Recently I noticed the increase in Flippa Listing Prices and Success fee. The increase is applicable to Websites, Domains and Apps. While it is still at the same rate of Flippa competitors, it is really an unexpected blow to the bunch of Flippa sellers.
Selling Websites On Flippa
See the below picture for websites listing prices. The price of listing an Established Site for Auction has been increased to $29(Existing was $19).
Flippa website Classified Listings on which you may put up your listing and wait for interested buyers to make private offers, is no longer Free. Now onward the classified listings will cost $9. All listings that are successfully sold will result in a 15% success fee(Earlier 10%). Flippa will discount it to 12% if you use Flippa Escrow.
Starter Websites Listing Fees
Listing fees for Starter Websites Auction has been raised to $19 from the existing $9. The classified listing price is also raised to $9 which was free earlier
Starter websites sell on flippa for $50 to $200. So the sellers won’t be getting much profit after deducting the $19 listing fee and Success fee of 12% with Flippa Escrow. Most of the Flippa starter sites are sold through Paypal Payment and the 15% success fee is a blow to the sellers.
There are no changes in the Flippa listing fee of Domains and Apps. Only the success fee has been increased to 15%(12% if you use Flippa Escrow).
Why Flippa Listing Prices Increased?
What I believe is that it is a move to eliminate the low quality starter websites and scammers. At the same time it affects the genuine sellers also. Consider the average domain registration price of $10, Listing fees $19, Success fee 15%, and at last the 4.4% Paypal fees. The sellers of starter websites will be left with meager profits which they will happily avoid by stopping selling on Flippa marketplace. So this pricing increase may backfire, in my opinion.
